Before You Submit
We strongly encourage prospective contributors to email us before writing or submitting a full article. This allows our editorial team to confirm that we have not already published, accepted, or scheduled a similar topic.
Your initial email should include:
- Your name and contact information
- Your proposed article title
- A brief summary of the topic
- The intended audience
- Your qualifications or personal connection to the subject
- Any relevant sources you plan to use
Receiving approval for a topic does not guarantee that the final article will be published.
Editorial Review and Approval
All submissions must be reviewed and approved by The Autism Wire before publication.
Submitting an article does not guarantee acceptance. Our editorial team may:
- Accept the article as submitted
- Request revisions or additional information
- Edit the article for grammar, clarity, length, tone, and formatting
- Verify sources and factual statements
- Decline the article
- Delay publication while additional review is completed

Personal Stories
We welcome personal stories from autistic individuals, parents, caregivers, siblings, educators, professionals, and community members.
Personal stories will be carefully reviewed before being posted. Contributors should respect the privacy, dignity, and safety of everyone mentioned in the article.
Please do not include:
- Full names or identifying details without permission
- Private medical, educational, or legal information about another person
- Photographs of children or other individuals without appropriate consent
- Information that could place someone’s safety or privacy at risk
- Claims about another person that cannot be verified
When writing about a child or dependent adult, contributors may be asked to remove identifying details or confirm that appropriate consent has been obtained.
The Autism Wire may edit personal stories to protect privacy while preserving the writer’s message and experience.
Submission Guidelines
Unless otherwise approved, submissions should:
- Be written in clear, accessible language
- Include a proposed title
- Be organized with headings and short paragraphs
- Include links or citations for factual claims
- Include a short author biography
- Include the author’s credentials or relevant experience
- Identify whether the article has been published elsewhere
- Disclose any conflicts of interest
- Be submitted in an editable document format
Please proofread your article before submitting it.
Most articles should be approximately 800 to 1,500 words. Longer articles may be considered when the topic requires additional explanation.

- Professional title, when applicable
- Organization or business affiliation, when applicable
- Relevant credentials or experience
- A short author biography
- Website or professional social media link, when appropriate
- A professional headshot, if you would like one considered for publication
